Slug Attack

A while ago I planted loads of Cayenne Pepper seeds, I had pots full of them. Unfortunately though I neglected things a bit and the slugs came out and I've only got one left. I looks good and it has some buds on it, but a slug has been eating away at the stem, I hope it doesn't die off or get eaten by something else.

Earlier in the year I made a last minute attempt to grow something else before it was too late. I was searching through the seed stand thing (you know, one of those slightly confusing spinning stands with packets on) in the supermarket and managed to find the only thing that was just about in season, some dill. It looked good. So I planted some and I got lots of seedlings from it in about three pots. One day I thought I better take another look at them and thin them out, but kindly, the slugs had done that for me, except they kept on doing it and did it a bit too well for my liking.

Oh well, maybe the last pepper plant will do better. There seem to be an awful lot of slugs this year, it seems nowhere in the garden is safe from them. In fact I found on in the kitchen cupboard one morning a couple of months ago, that wasn't very nice at all. I think it got in under a gap in the front door. Oh well, I'll have to try again next year. I suppose that's the trouble with growing tasty plants, everything wants to eat them.

Yep. I've had similar problems. Some of my peppers were attacked by slugs and a whole veg patch of brassica seedlings were devoured over night. I even found a massive slug chomping away at the chicken's food last night. However, I've got a super haul of Hungarian Wax peppers. I guess the slugs don't like those.

There do seem to be more of them around. I suppose it must just be all the damp weather. It's funny about them eating chicken food, once I found a slug eating a dog biscuit that had been left outside! Hungarian Wax peppers sound interesting, maybe I'll try some of those next year.
